Bright sparks win top accolade

WISHAW company Weir and McQuiston (Scotland) Ltd have been named Electrical Contractor of the Year in the prestigious SELECT Electrotechnical Awards 2008.

The honour capped a fabulous evening for the local firm which had already won the Best Use of Marketing award. The award was presented before 350 guests at a glittering gala dinner which was held in the Radisson SAS Hotel, Glasgow, on Friday, October 17.

Judges chose the overall winner from the list of entries received in the event’s seven other categories.

And the panel were unanimous in their decision that Weir and McQuiston (Scotland) exemplified excellence and dedication to high standards.

Unveiling the winner, the judges said: “The Electrical Contractor of the Year is chosen from all of the companies entered in this year’s awards.

“It takes something very special to win this, the ultimate prize – but anyone familiar with tonight’s winner will be very well aware that they are, indeed, something special.

“This company is characterised by strong leadership, good organisation and attention to detail. The firm have a deep knowledge and understanding of their marketplace – one that encourages personal development and takes pride in their ability to serve customers and, thus, attract repeat business.”

Weir and McQuiston director Gordon MacArthur, said: “This is fabulous news and we are all absolutely thrilled.

“Having also picked up the marketing award, this rounds off a wonderful year and is a great reward for all the hard work that everybody has put in.”
