Newmains girl to star in new Waybaloo CBeebies show

NEWMAINS starlet Hannah Devine will be appearing on television screens nationwide soon – when she appears in ten episodes of a new CBeebies show.

The seven-year-old Morningside Primary School pupil will feature in the new Waybaloo programme along with children from all over the country.

Hannah was offered the part after she auditioned through the Sheridan School of Musical Theatre, Motherwell, last June.

Production for the programme began last October and finished in late January, with Hannah getting at least one day off from school a week to take part.

Using a mixture of live action and animation, Waybaloo features four characters called piplings, whose names are LauLau, Dee Li, Nok Tok and Yojojo – all from the fictional land of Nara.

The pre-school show focuses on children’s emotions and in each episode, the kids, known as cheebies in the show, join the piplings and help them with tasks.

Hannah’s mum, Lorraine (39), a secretary for Scott Grant Technical Services, said she and husband David (44), a Rolls Royce engineer, are both incredibly proud of their daughter.

She said:”It’s been a lovely experience for Hannah. The whole filming process was an absolute ball for her – it was just like one huge play day.

“When she saw the finished product on TV she was so excited. She thoroughly enjoyed everything.”

She added: “I’d like to thank Morningside Primary for all the support they gave us.”

Hannah, who is a huge Hannah Montana fan, acts, dances, sings and takes parts in a wide variety of creative and drama classes at the theatre school.

l Children can see the new Waybaloo programme on CBeebies in the morning at 9.10am on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
