WISHAW’S hapless ‘ghostbuster’ Gerry Devine has become a minor celebrity – after his pals set up a website site dedicated to his impromptu kips.
Last week Wishaw Press told how Gerry fell asleep in the toilets at his mate’s fancy dress 30th birthday party.
He managed to get locked in then set off all the alarms as he tried to find a way out after waking up hours later.
And when cops and firefighters turned up at Beltane Bowling Club around 3am last Sunday morning, they found Gerry in fancy dress as Peter Venkman from the hit 80s Ghostbuster movie – complete with inflatable proton pack.
Now his mates, who have seen him fall asleep in many a noisy pub, have set up a Bebo page dedicated to his booze-induced sleeps over the years.
It now has more than 100 members.
One mate said: “Sleepy Gerry is a legend now. Everyone knows he’s fallen asleep in the Commercial, Motherwell Miners and Mega Bar.
“The Bebo page is called ‘The Adventures of Gerry Devine aka sleepy Gerry’.
“Everyone’s been getting stuck right into him but he’s taking it in good humour.”
