Bus’s route will alter

STRATHCLYDE Partnership for Transport will alter the route of a Lanarkshire bus service, which it subsidises, in order to improve reliability.

The service 243 operates hourly between Carluke Cross and Hamilton Bus Station – serving Lawhill, Law Village, Garrion Bridge, Ferniegair and Hamilton.

The operator, Irvine's Coaches, regularly experiences difficulty in adhering to timetable arrangements due to congestion at the busy junction of Garrion Bridge and along the A72 into Hamilton, causing delays.

In order to improve reliability of the service for local users, the route will be amended from mid-January 2009, so that the 243 travels to Lanark Road as normal, then travels to and from Hamilton via the M74 instead of the A72.

Timetable details for all bus services are available at travelinescotland.com or by telephoning Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
