Clyde Valley housing group open new HQ

THE Scottish Government’s Minister for Housing and Communities was in Motherwell to open the new purpose-built headquarters of Lanarkshire’s largest social landlord, Clyde Valley Housing Association.

Central Scotland MSP Alex Neil was the guest of honour at the celebration in Scott Street and praised the work that the housing association do across the region.

Mr Neil said: “The association has built over 1200 quality affordable homes throughout Lanarkshire since its inception and I am pleased to see this process continuing, to provide much-needed quality homes for local people. My congratulations go to Clyde Valley Housing Association on the completion of their new headquarters with a one-stop-shop enquiry facility, which will ensure staff continue to provide a high level of service to tenants and stakeholders.”

The new, purpose-built building accommodates all 63 Clyde Valley staff members, bringing three previous sites in Motherwell, Hamilton and Coatbridge into one.

The premises will improve customer services by offering tenants more privacy when they meet association staff and by providing better access and facilities for clients with special needs. The new HQ will also reduce the association’s carbon footprint by cutting staff travel between offices.

Clyde Valley’s chairman Tom Campbell said: “We are delighted to be moving in to our new home this year as Scotland celebrates Homecoming.

“Our focus, however, remains clearly on providing good quality affordable homes and continuously improving our service to customers throughout Lanarkshire.”

The association continues to develop new homes around Lanarkshire despite the recession and is also spending around £1.2 million this year on major improvements for tenants, including upgrades and replacements of kitchens, bathrooms and central heating.

Clyde Valley Housing Association is based at 50 Scott Street in Motherwell. Established in 1996, it is a not-for-profit registered social landlord, run by a voluntary board of management elected by the association’s members.
