Refurbished office a credit to the union

MOTHERWELL & Wishaw MP Frank Roy carried out the re-opening ceremony at the Wishaw Credit Union following its recent refurbishment.

Also in attendance was Motherwell and Wishaw MSP Jack McConnell.

The Credit Union have provided an invaluable service to the people of Wishaw for almost 12 years.

When they first began in September 1997 there were only around 110 members.

That figure has grown to an impressive 2200, including 125 junior savers, as the people of Wishaw have realised the benefits of joining.

The Wishaw Credit Union are staffed by 25 volunteers who cover their opening hours which are spread over Monday to Saturday.

MP Frank Roy said: “I have watched the Wishaw Credit Union grow over the last 11 years or so. They offer a fantastic service to the people of Wishaw and I would encourage as many families as possible to visit the newly-refurbished premises and join up.”

Office Administrator Margaret McDowell said: “We are all very pleased with the results of the refurbishment and are looking forward to more and more people who live and work in Wishaw coming along and joining us.”
