A NEW swimming programme has just been launched at Wishaw Sports Centre, providing improved opportunities for people to swim at a time that suits them.
Blane Dodds, chief executive of North Lanarkshire Leisure, said: “From January 2012, Wishaw Sports Centre will operate new pool timetables. These have been designed to cater for everyone and to operate the pools in a more professional and efficient manner.
“We’ve carried out a thorough consultation exercise and looked at improving the service we provide our customers. For example, at lunchtimes the vast majority of people want to swim in lanes so that’s what we’re providing. You’ll be able to choose the lane which best suits your ability.
“Similarly, weekends are a time where families want to come and have fun so we’re putting on fun sessions with rafts and floats in a lively exciting atmosphere.”
The pool will close each day for about one hour in the afternoon on weekdays when demand is lowest. This allows cleaning to take place and staff training.
Jim Logue, chairman of North Lanarkshire Leisure, added: “Clearly, it’s difficult to please everyone, but I’m convinced that by providing sessions when our users want them most, the vast majority will benefit.”
There are options to suit everyone at the pool, whether you want to swim for fun, leisure, fitness or competition and there are also children’s and adult swimming lessons.
