Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition hold charity event at Commercial Bar for Kidscape

Specs wearer of the year competition

A TEAM of talent spotters from the Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition will be on the lookout for potential models at the Commercial Bar this Saturday, June 30.

Staff from the Wishaw Specsavers store will also be on hand to fundraise for national anti-bullying charity Kidscape.

Every entry to the modelling competition sees Specsavers donate £1 to the charity. Last year the event in Wishaw raised more than £100.

Scouts will bring along a selection of frames for non-spec wearers to join in the fun and help raise funds at the free event.

Jonathan Dry, director of the Wishaw store, said: “Our team of scouts will host the event in the Commercial Bar on Saturday, June 30, from 7.30pm. We’re hoping to raise a lot of money for Kidscape and maybe even find the nation’s next top specs wearer at the same time.”

Throughout the evening the team will be rewarding participants with free prize gifts just for taking part. The awards include designer sunglasses, a meal for two at the Pink Turban and designer cut and blow dry at Mosko Hairdressing.

Every year, Specsavers scours the UK to find the girls and boys next door who look amazing in their specs. The competition is open to men and women aged 16 and over, who are current specs wearers or wear glasses for fashion purposes.

The regional winner will attend the glamorous awards ceremony in central London in November where the overall Spectacle Wearer of the Year 2012 will be crowned.
