THE sound, colours and excitement of summer were brought to the stage by North Lanarkshire school pupils and staff at the annual Summer Arts Festival held at Motherwell Civic Centre.
Now in its fifth year, the event provided an exciting opportunity for talented youngsters to showcase work to a packed audience.
Schools including Castlehill in Wishaw, Cathedral in Motherwell, and New Stevenston Primaries took part in a programme with choirs, bands, dance and drama.
Christine Pollock, the council’s executive director of learning and leisure, said: “The arts festival is a fantastic event for all involved and the performances never fail to impress with their creativity.
“Many of the young people involved would not normally have the chance to perform to such a large audience, so to have put on such a great show was fabulous.
“Creating opportunities for them to exhibit their talents is the aim of this annual festival. I congratulate all who took part.”
