Nigerian man guilty of blowing kisses towards children at Aquatec in Motherwell

A Nigerian man pleaded guilty to blowing kisses, staring at and making sexual gestures towards three girls - two of whom were aged 13 and the other was 11 - at Motherwell’s Aquatec swimming pool.

Peter Oshiogbhe (40), conducted himself in a disorderly fashion by making comments of an inappropriate and sexual nature to the girls and lifting up his clothing to reveal his stomach at the Menteith Road centre on July 6 this year.

He was last week released from custody on bail and will be sentenced later this month after admitting four amended charges.

Oshiogbhe, whose address was given as King Street, Legos Island, Nigeria, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared with a court-ordered interpreter on August 16.

He admitted pointing, blowing kisses and staring at the three girls, placing them in a state of fear and alarm at the busy leisure centre.

He then engaged in conversation with one of the 13-year-old girls against her will, making comments of an inappropriate and sexual nature, before engaging in conversation with the 11-year-old victim, again making comments of an inappropriate nature.

Oshiogbhe then went back to one of the 13-year-old girls and made further inappropriate gestures, blew kisses and pointed at her, made gestures of an inappropriate and sexual nature, lifted his clothing, exposed his stomach, made further gestures of an inappropriate and sexual nature, and pointed a camera phone in the direction of the minor.

These offences were all regarded by the court as breaches of the peace and Oshiogbhe pleaded guilty to all of the charges.
