Newarthill-born fashion favourite Christopher Kane’s designs on expanding his brand have received a huge boost from the group which backs British labels Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney.
PPR, a leading apparel and accessories group, have acquired 51 per cent of the luxury clothing brand.
Christopher said: “We are all very excited and honoured to be partnering with PPR for the next stage of development for our brand.
“PPR have an incredible reputation for building some of the very best luxury brands in the world. They respect our creative vision and they have the expertise and experience to help us build the Christopher Kane brand globally.”
Christopher, who attended Taylor High School in New Stevenston, before studying at Central Saint Martin’s College in London, started the label in 2006. In recent years, he has branched out from his successful womenswear line, into menswear, and has collaborated with Versace, Swarovski and Topshop.
He scooped the prestigious Scottish Designer of the Year award in 2012, and has previously won the Scottish Designer of the Year title.
Christopher was the star graduate of the 2006 Central Saint Martin’s MA, winning both a distinction and the prestigious Harrods Design Award.
His MA collection was sponsored by Donatella Versace – a partnership which led to him working as a consultant for Versace.
PPR also back brands like Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.
