Police warning over traffic hazard

NOW that the summer holidays are over police are urging motorists and parents to be vigilant on roads around schools.

Officers want to make parents who may be doing the school run for the first time aware of how to ensure their child, and others, are safe.

The time when traffic is heaviest with families dropping off their children is the 20 minute period before school starts then again between 2.50pm and 3.15pm.

During these times people should drive slowly and carefully and avoid creating obstructions.
