LAST week, Strathclyde Police teamed up with local tyre and exhaust dealers, Cooper Brothers of Newmains for an evening of driver education and awareness. The evening was a great success with 18 women attending the event.
Basic car maintenance tips on how to check car tyres for tread wear and pressure, how to change a tyre, check the water, oil and fluids and other expert advice was provided by Cooper Brothers trained staff on the night.
The group also received a presentation on personal safety for the lone driver by crime reduction officer, Constable Dougie Denholm from Wishaw Police office.
Garry Gibson, of Cooper Brothers, said: “It was an enjoyable evening for all those who attended and for the staff here at Cooper Brothers. Hopefully the women will feel more confident in their vehicles.”
For those who missed the event and wish to attend the next driver education and awareness evening from 6.30-8.30pm on Tuesday, February 24, contact Dougie Denholm, crime reduction officer at the community safety department at Wishaw Police office on 202610.
