Singing Easter Egg group set to perform this April

A VARIETY stage group are gearing up for an eclectic set of shows which they are preparing to stage at Clyde Valley High School theatre in Overtown soon.

As part of the Easter Egg Club, the harmony women-only group will give their rendition of hits by Elvis and Billy Joel in their Legends show, the proceeds of which will go to charity.

However, the group find donating part of their show proceeds to charity is getting difficult due to dwindling sales, despite ticket prices being cut.

Andrea Hyslop of Easter Egg Club said: “The show is a true variety show which caters for all ages, including children, with a mixture of solos, chorus numbers and comedy sketches.”

Alison, who works at St Aidan's High School, Wishaw, lost her daughter Faith to stillbirth in 2002. Since then the group have endeavoured to help charities and regularly donate part of their profit to causes close to their heart. The club's most recent donation was £2000 to SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death) Scotland.

Other causes which the group have helped in the past include local and cancer charities.

Alison continued: “We donate between £250 and £500 – some years £1000 – to organisations such as the Dalziel War Memorial Trust, and also to help maintain sporting facilities at Cleland for young athletes and rugby and football players.”

The group are undecided which charity will benefit from the proceeds this year.

Alison added: “We haven't decided our charity for this year's show. We tend to do this at our annual general meeting which is always after our show.”
