Agency targets crime's 'Mr bigs'

Crime-fighting agencies are targeting the "Mr Bigs" of the underworld, First Minister Alex Salmond told MSPs.

The Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency seized 220 kg of class A drugs with a street value of £15.8 million in 2007/08 - three times up on the previous year. The information was published in the agency's annual report, Mr Salmond said during First Minister's Questions.

Nationalist backbencher Angela Constance said the battle against drugs will not be won until the "organised criminal gangs, including the Mr Bigs of the underworld" are successfully disrupted.
