ITV 'could cut' Scottish news

ITV could be allowed to slash Scottish programming, including news, under proposals published by Ofcom.

The minimum volume of non-news programmes in the regions would be halved to one-and-a-half hours a week while STV peak-time news output would remain unchanged.

ITV is seeking to rationalise its news delivery in England and the Scottish borders from 17 separate main programmes to nine.
