Homeowners get £3m for legal help

Homeowners facing the threat of repossession are to get extra legal help, it has been announced.

Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the Government will spend an extra £3 million over the next two years to fund more legal advice and representation for those facing repossession and other debt problems.

The money will be used to boost existing services, like one provided by the sheriff courts, as well as services provided by local solicitors, advice agencies or solicitors employed by the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
