Cash used to buy Christmas gifts

Some Scots are ditching their credit cards this Christmas and using cash to buy presents, a survey revealed.

The study by financial experts Deloitte found 85% of shoppers planned to pay for gifts using cash so they could keep track of their spending amid the economic crisis.

Only 8% said they will be using their credit cards for Christmas gifts compared with 12% last year. The rest of those polled said they will use cheque, vouchers, their overdraft or store cards.
