Greens: Scrap power station plans

Greens have demanded plans to build a new power station be abandoned after research suggested that carbon capture and storage technology was "not feasible at any cost".

Earlier this week energy company Ayrshire Power submitted proposals for a new multi-fuel plant to be built near the current Hunterston B nuclear plant.

The plant aims to use carbon capture technology to trap environmentally-damaging carbon dioxide gas which is released in the burning of coal, then pipe it underground.
