Athletics: Law in fine form for Glasgow championships

LAW and District AAC athletes have been very busy over the last few weeks competing at various indoor championships at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow.

Law had five of their senior athletes selected to represent the Scotland West Coast team at the championships, competing against Glasgow City, Tayside and Fife, Central and East and Grampian.

Gary Grieve from Carluke competed in the u-23 ‘A’ 800m, coming fourth in an excellent new PB time of 1 min 55.74 secs.

Kirstie McLeod, u-20, from Lesmahagow came third in the ‘B’ 200m in 28.45secs with Motherwell’s David Martin, u-23, was second in the ‘A’ long jump (6.91m).

The competition ended with close relay medleys – 2x200m and 2x400m in both male and female categories. Lynn Livesey and Kirstie McLeod both ran a 200m leg.

The Glasgow City Cup was decided in the thrilling relay events and was won by Tayside and Fife by one point from West Coast.
