Boxer Mark Parvin to make pro-debut

WISHAW boxer Mark Parvin is set to make his pro debut in October after signing up with Prospect Boxing promoter Paul Graham.

The 19-year-old will fight at Rivals Gym, Newmains, on October 6 in ‘The Specials’ show.

The show will also feature undefeated Motherwell flyweight Iain Butcher (4-0 record) and Kris Hughes (15-2), who will be fighting in a lightweight contest.

Parvin, a five-time Scottish amateur champion and six-time Western district champion, will fight in the welterweight division and his promoter thinks his hard hitting will make people take notice.

Graham said: “From what I have seen from his training, and from his amateur videos, Mark has a hard punch on him.

“That and the fact he had a good amateur background means I don’t think it will be long before people take notice of him.

“He is only 19 so we are not going to rush him. I just hope that once the word gets out about him that we don’t have problems with getting him fights.”
