Shotts Bon Accord win the Scottish Junior Cup
Basement boys Shotts take on Super Premier leaders Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday for the first time since their memorable Junior Cup final triumph against the Ayrshire giants back in May.
That day BA secured a famous 2-1 win despite being heavy underdogs and they go into this game as second favourites once again.
Boss Tony McInally said: “Talbot are a club that set high standards and they have probably been the most dominant Junior team in the last 30 years.
“They have improved again on last season and in Tommy Sloan they have the best manager in the Juniors. We will give it our best shot to get a result.”
Shotts are without a league win since winning promotion last season but McInally expects their poor run to come to an end soon.
He added: “Our results have not reflected the performances. It is really frustrating because the boys are putting in so much effort just now without the rewards.
"But when that turns we are going to go on a really good run. I can sense it from the boys and we are one win away from that.
"We are having slack 15 minutes spells which is putting us out of games. When we played in the league last year we only really needed one good half effectively to win a game. You cannot do that in this top level."
He continued: “We've had a bit of a hard time this year. Shotts used to be the team that were doing the hunting but now we are the hunted. But the boys are learning to deal with that situation now.”
