Darts heavyweights Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis will be the star attractions when the inaugural Motherwell Darts Masters is held this summer.
Anderson, a PDC Premier League winner in 2011 and two-time World Champion Lewis will start strong favourites for the event set for Cleland Social Club on Saturday June 15.
Also starring will be WDF European Champion Gary Stone and fellow Scottish internationalist Alan Soutar whilst four qualifiers will complete the line-up.
Event organiser Scott MacDonald, who competes in the Motherwell and Wishaw Friday night darts league, said: “I have done a couple of exhibition nights before with Raymond Van Barneveld and Gary Anderson playing but we came up with the idea of having a competition and did a bit of homework.
“Darts is really taking off and I was at a tournament in Edinburgh recently where people from all over the country entered.
“The two big draws obviously are home favourite Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis a double world champion. It should be a great evening and I’m looking forward to seeing them in action.”
The Masters will hold two qualifying events, the first on March 2 at the Joker Bar in Bellshill with the second qualifier in May.
Anyone can enter with the two finalists from each qualifier winning through to the showpiece event in June. MacDonald added: “Everyone is more than welcome to enter the qualifiers and I will make the draw on the night.” Call Scott on 07736934171 for details.
