BAKERY giants Warburtons have stumped up the dough to allow a local athletics club to buy new kit.
Warburtons have donated £500 to Law and District Athletic Club which the club will put towards buying new strips.
One of the club’s star performers is 15-year-old Laura Livesey, whose father Ken works for Warburtons at their Bellshill bakery. As well as competing for Law and District Laura is also a member of Team Lanarkshire and is the current Scottish Schools Champion at 100 and 200 metres.
Laura, who has just returned from the Youth Olympics in San Francisco, said: “Both of the teams that I train with rely heavily on sponsorship to be able to compete in events, both at home and abroad.
“I would like to thank Warburtons for this generous donation towards our new strips and everyone at the club is really looking forward to receiving them.
“I hope that they put Law and District on a winning streak.”
General Manager for Warburtons in Scotland, Ian Connell was delighted to hand a boost to some of Scotland’s brightest athletics hopes.
He said: “Warburtons aim to support groups that promote healthy and active lifestyles, so we were delighted to provide Law and Athletic District Club with this donation. I hope that the club has lots of future successes wearing the new strip.”
The new strip will make Laura – pictured far left with Warburtons’ Ian Connell – and her fellow club members stand out at events while also allowing them to compete in all conditions.
One things for sure, thanks to the new kit Laura and the other athletes from the athletics club certainly won’t be loafing around.
