All set for big charity run in park

HUNDREDS of men and women are finalising their preparations for the Strathclyde Park 10k Run for Cancer Research UK this Sunday (October 26) – and there is still one last chance for more runners to join them.

This is the second time the run has been held at Strathclyde Park, having attracted 1,200 participants last year.

It is hoped this year that the runners will contribute more than £133,000 in sponsorship.

The charity is also encouraging runners and their supporters to use the event for a domestic clear-out.

A Donation Station will be situated near the start line that will give people the chance to clear out their home, ditching unwanted clothes, books, CDs and DVDs.

These items will then be sold in Cancer Research UK shops around the area to raise more money.

The Strathclyde Park event is part of the Cancer Research UK 10k series which sees 41 runs across the UK.

Anyone wishing to enter should visit the charity’s website, www.Run10k.org.
