SEVERAL athletes made the journey to Falkirk representing Law and District Amateur Athletic Club at the recent National Cross-Country Championships at Callendar Park.
As reported last month in the Wishaw Press, local athlete Craig Wellcoat earned himself another national title winning the gold medal in the under 15 boys race in 12.49 minutes.
In the under 13 events, Calum Lindsay, Jay Cowan, Steven Bryce, Nadene Traynor, Sherelle Graham, Laura McArdle and Margaret Newall put in some fine performances and completed their races in very good times indeed.
Daniel Grieve, Daniel Graham and Samantha Stevenson all ran well in their under 15 events.
Both under 17 athletes from the Law club, Jonathan Velu and Dougie Frame had strong runs with Alison Cameron the only under 20 woman from the club completing her race as well.
Gary Grieve ran very well finishing in 22nd place in the under 20 race, while James Rowley and Pat Kelly completed their Senior Men's race.
Meanwhile, Law AAC made its annual trip to Annan River Races last month and returned back to the county with a host of medals under their belts.
In the under 11 boys race, Evan Jones took the gold with Stephen Kelman seventh, Jay Cowan eighth, Keiran Cubis 11th and Connor Thomson 12th.
Law took the second team place in the event.
In the under 11 girls Emily McNicol was fifth, Heather Baird seventh, Reagan Binnie eight, Sarah Richardson 12th, Claire Cartledge 15th and Kirsten Cowe 16th.
The club took another first prize when Luke Foss won the under 13 boys race, with Calum Lindsay third, Rory McLaughlin fourth and Stephen Murphy eighth.
These efforts won the first team prize for Law.
In the under 13 girls race, Nadene Traynor was fifth and Margaret Newell was 16th.
The club took another first team medal in the under 15 boys race when Daniel Grieve secured bronze.
Ross Hill and Daniel Graham were fourth and fifth respectively.
Julie Dobbin and Samantha Stevenson secured silver and bronze in the under 15 girls race.
Individual and team gold medals were won in the under 17 men’s race where Johnathan Velu won the race with Bobby Hill, Thomas Lafferty and Alan Robb finishing in third, fourth and fifth places respectively.
In the senior men's race Gary Grieve took third and was first under 20 man with David Ross, in his debut race, finishing 15th.
Pat Kelly was 17th and first over 60 man as John Thomson finished 20th with Willie Drysdale 24th.
Alison Cameron took off her coaches tracksuit and ran well to finish fourth in the senior women's race.
Overall it was a great day out for the club with many athletes performing admirably.
