Tom Scott winner shatters record

A RECORD number of competitors descended on Strathclyde Park on Easter Sunday for the 47th 10-mile Tom Scott Annual Memorial Race, incorporating the Stewarts Road Race (the Grand Prix Event Race two).

On a glorious morning, 341 entrants, 253 for the Tom Scott race and 88 for the 6K Round the Loch Race confirmed the respect and honour of this event continued.

In the 10-mile race 218 entrants completed the All Competitors Category.

A new course record of 49.24mins was set by Tsegezeah Woldemichael of Shettleston Harriers winning the race for the second consecutive year .

His team mate Mengisteah Tewoldcebrhan claimed silver with Stephen Wylie of Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers running closely behind in third place.

Paul Thomson (first vet +50) retained the Jackie Gourlay Shield for the second consecutive year.

The second new course record of the day was set by Toni McIntosh of Ayr Seaforth – being the first lady home in 57.15 minutes.

The 6K Round the Loch Race included the inaugural Robin Barbour Trophy to be awarded to the winner who was Stephen Matthews of East Kilbride AAC.

He completed the race in 19.21 minutes.

First home for Law & District AAC in the Tom Scott Race was Gary Grieve (Sen.M), 27th, in 57.56mins.

James Rowley (vet+60) was 81st with William Scoular (Vet +55) and Chris Barbour (Vet+50) behind him.

Nicola Lindsay was the third lady across the line in the 6K Race with Law athletes Jonathan Velu, Daniel Graham and Jim Wellcoat being the Gents' team winners.

Law & District AAC, who organise the event, would like to thank Mrs Kelly for presenting the prizes as well as Tunnocks and Carluke Co-op for assisting in sponsoring the event.

They would also like to thank all officials, stewards, Strathclyde Community Police, St Andrew’s First-Aid and Strathclyde Park staff for ensuring another successful event.

A special mention must go to the Barbour family for their donation of The Robin Barbour Trophy.
