PLANS for Carluke Development Trust’s annual 10k Road Race and 5k Family Fun Run, scheduled for Loch Park Stadium on Sunday, June 7, moved up a gear last week. Posters and entry forms publicising the event were distributed to outlets within the town and surrounding areas.
This year’s event, being held in partnership with Marie Curie Cancer Care, is taking a leaf out of the past by reinforcing the original and highly successful ‘Run for Fitness, Run for Fun and Run for your Community’ slogan.
Trust chairman Tom Sneddon said: “Both runs have proved extremely popular since their inception eight years ago, with a healthy year-on-year increase in participants, and we hope this will continue.”
He added: “The 10k race is now a well established fixture in the Scottish athletics calendar and we look forward to welcoming both previous runners as well as first-time entrants to Loch Park.
“We are also hoping that more families, schools, youth organisations and local groups will take up the Trust’s challenge to enter the 5k Fun Run.”
In addition to an attractive range of cash prizes on offer, each competitor in the 10k event will receive a memento, while all of those who finish the 5k event will be presented with commemorative medals.
Information, entry forms and free Marie Curie fundraising material are available on the Trust’s website, www.carluketrust.org.uk or by email at carluke10k@btconnect.com.
