THE 2011 Wishaw Games took place over the weekend of August 13 and 14 at Wishaw Sports Centre and were once again a success.
The Games continue to be one of Scotland’s premier multi-sports competitions for people with physical and learning disabilities.
Now their 21st year, the Games attracted more than 300 competitors from all over Scotland, who were taking part in a variety of disciplines.
The official opening on Saturday was carried out by Depute Provost of North Lanarkshire Jim Robertson.
Carpet bowls, table tennis, boccia, and athletics got the event under way.
Once again this year the bowling competition attracted sponsorship from Wishaw and District Housing Association.
A representative from the association presented the trophy to the best overall team, with this year’s winners being Prestonpans Disabled Bowling Club.
The swimming gala took place on the Sunday with a full programme of 72 events throughout the course of the day.
