LAW and District Amateur Athletic Club staged their annual presentation of awards in the Centenary Suite at Fir Park at the weekend.
After a year littered with success at national and district level, the athletes had a lot to celebrate.
As well as all the annual awards, two new awards were given this year.
Clubs for Young People (Scotwest Federation) sponsored The Best Performance in Disability Events Trophy, which was awarded jointly to Margaret Newell (14) and Steven Bryce (16).
Gary Grieve, Activities Development Officer with Clubs for Young People, said: “We feel that this area of sport does not get the recognition that it deserves.
“There are many talented athletes with a disability in Scotland, two of whom are Stephen Bryce and Margaret Newell.
“They both improved their personal bests in a range of events this season along with winning several medals at local and national events.”
Well-known Law resident Ena Martin received the first Services to Athletics Award after many years of involvement with the club.
Ena, a Level Three Scottish Athletics Official, is well regarded throughout the athletics community for her dedication to the sport.
The club are now looking forward to a successful 2012 and extend an open invitation to new members from nine upwards.
