Hannah Lawler to compete at Olympic Stadium

Hannah Andrew Lawler

POLE Vaulter Hannah Lawler is set to compete at London’s Olympic Stadium this summer after a successful start to the year.

The talented athlete has been selected to represent Scotland in the capital at this year’s UK School Games.

In January, Hannah, 16, won the Scottish Open U18 championship, gaining selection to the Scottish Senior / U20 team for the Celtic International Event in Cardiff where she finished a respectable third.

Last month she secured gold at the Scottish Universities Indoor Championships where she was vaulting as a guest and followed this up a week later with a Scottish Schools Indoor Championship gold.

And a fortnight ago the Coltness High pupil retained her Scottish National U18 title.

Her achievements mean she is currently ranked number one in the U17 Scottish pole vault rankings and third in the U17 UK rankings.

This summer Hannah will be looking to improve on her personal best height of 3m 20, which she has equalled several times already this year.

Not to be outdone her twin brother Andrew won his first ever Scottish National title in the U18 1500m race.

It follows his recent third place finish in the Scottish National 3000m Indoor Championships.

Andrew’s first Scottish cap was gained last September at the Junior Home International Hill Race held in Wales where he finished sixth overall and was the first Scot home.
