Strathaven pair secure Castlehill Bowling Club title

Castlehill Bowling Club

CASTLEHILL Bowling Club held their third junior open pairs tournament last Sunday (September 19) with 20 teams from as far afield as Alloa taking part.

In poor weather conditions it was Strathaven pair Ben White and Ryan Ballantyne who secured victory against last year’s beaten finalists Andrew Blake and Chloe Kenny from Alloa East End Bowling Club who took the final into an extra end.

Carluke pair Fraser and Colin Watson reached the semi-final as did Callum Lindsay and Adam Tipple also from Strathaven BC.

The event was supported by local gentlemen John Galloway and Bill Brand.

The Junior Section of Castlehill Bowling Club are very grateful for the generosity and the support they have given this event over the past three years

Mr Galloway gave a speech at the end of the day thanking everyone for continuing to run this tournament and said he and Mr Brand were honoured to be able to present the prize money to the winners.

A big thank you was also given to all the juniors who turned up on the day, the kitchen staff and the juniors and adults who helped out in the tuck shop.

The tournament would not have been such a success without the help from Mr Ian Donnelly (Gents president), Mrs Molly Forgie (Ladies president), Jean Smith, Bett McNeil, Ian Alexander, Karen Forgie, Gavin Connor, John Jackson and Graham Gibb.

Junior convenor Amanda Muncie would also like to thank everyone who contributed to the preparation and running of the day.
