New look for Milton Rovers

MILTON ROVERS under-12s have netted a new strip deal after securing a sponsorship partnership with UK Steel Enterprise (UKSE).

The company donated £800 to the club after being approached by club secretary Dougie Denholm and the money has been used to purchase new strips for Rovers' under-12s.

More than 200 kids aged between five and 16 train with the club on a regular basis.

Currently part of the Lanarkshire Football Development Association, Milton Rovers YFC have been running for 18 years.

Dougie Denholm said: “All our finances are self-generated and we are dependent on the community and donations so the money from UKSE is a real boost for us. The boys are thrilled with their new strips and can't wait to be able to show them off on the pitch.”

Eight of the club’s players have already been capped at national level and many of the youngsters have graduated to pro-youth and senior teams.

The club's most recent success story is Motherwell midfielder Darren Smith.

Anne Clyde, area manager of UKSE, said: “Milton Rovers YFC plays an important part in the community, offering children in the area a fun, healthy way to spend their free time. “We are pleased to be able to help and wish them success.”
