MOTHERWELL Bridgework put on one of their best performances of the season last Wednesday but still failed to overcome Mill United in their LAFA Premier League outing.
United took advantage of the strong wind at their back and almost scored after three minutes via a tremendous shot that was brilliantly saved by makeshift keeper Jonathan McNeilly.
The visitors then scored two goals in the next ten minutes – the first an unstoppable shot from thirty yards out.
Despite being a goal down, the Bridge played well in the first half and continued this form after the break scoring a fine goal with twenty minutes remaining.
Paul Smyth broke clear of the defence before slotting the ball past the United keeper.
A number of missed opportunities and desperate defending prevented the hosts from claiming any points as United held on for all three points.
