Bellshill Derby win Lanarkshire cup double

LAFA Premier League winners Bellshill Derby made it a double after winning the Lanarkshire Cup in a eight-goal thriller against Mill United last Friday night.

Bellshill quickly went into a 3-1 lead in the game played at Stonehouse Violet’s ground before a brave Mill United came storming back to level the scoreline at 3-3.

But Bellshill rallied again and eventually won 5-3 to lift the cup.

Woodhall Thistle lifted the James Paterson League Cup by defeating Mossend Amateurs in the final 2-0 but their hopes of a cup double were dashed last Thursday night when underdogs Holytown Colts sprang a surprise to defeat Woodhall 2-1 in the John Roan Cup Final.

Meanwhile Calderwood Blue Star lifted the Division Two league title taking advantage of long time leaders Dalriada Amateurs’ disappointing end to the season.

The Division Two title is the only trophy undecided, with Blantyre, Holytown Colts and Larkhall Amateurs all still in contention.
