’Well slash seats

MOTHERWELL football club have slashed their ticket pricing and urged other SPL clubs to follow suit in an effort to make football more affordable to fans in the current financial climate.

Chief executive Ian Stillie said: “Football in Scotland has become too pricey, particularly for families.

“Everyone is feeling the pinch at the moment and we have to, as an industry, react to that.

“Motherwell Football Club have taken the lead on the issue and we would encourage our SPL partners to reciprocate the changes, not only for our fans but for their own supporters.”

He added: “With this latest initiative, we are underlining our commitment to encouraging more youngsters along to games.”

The ticket pricing changes are as follows:

For Category A fixtures (Celtic and Rangers) – admission to all stands will now be just £15 for adults and £10 concessions.

For Category B fixtures (Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibernian and Hamilton Academical) – standard gate prices will apply but juveniles (under-12s) will be allowed free entry when accompanied by a paying adult.

Juvenile season ticket holders will also be able to bring a friend for free.

For Category C fixtures (Dundee United, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Falkirk and Inverness Caley Thistle) – Motherwell fans will be able to watch the match in the South Stand and juveniles will be allowed free entry when accompanied by an adult paying just £10.

Visiting fans will be housed in the Phil O'Donnell Stand and they, along with all other remaining areas of the ground can expect standard gate prices.

However, children will be allowed free entry when accompanied by a paying adult, while juvenile season ticket holders will also be able to bring a friend for free.

The club is planning to set-up a committee with fans representatives to look at season ticket prices for next season and beyond.
