Klimpl extends stay

LOAN defender Maros Klimpl has extended his stay at Motherwell until the end of the season.

The Slovakian international has made a good impression since joining on a short-term deal from Danish side FC Midtjylland in September.

After a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, he has emerged as an important player in recent games and impressed against Inverness and on Saturday in the more unaccustomed position of holding midfielder.

“I’m delighted to be staying with Motherwell,” the 28-year-old said.

“I’ve been back for a few weeks now and I feel as though I am just starting to show the manager and the fans what I can do.”

Meanwhile following the departure of goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen, who has returned to Blackburn Rovers, Artur Krysiak has joined the club on loan for the remainder of the season from Birmingham City.

The Polish under-19 international finished last season on loan at Motherwell’s former tenants Gretna, making four appearances for the now defunct Borderers.

This season he has already had spells at York City and Swansea City as he looks to gain further experience away from St Andrews.

The 19-year-old has been a regular at Birmingham’s academy and reserve sides but has yet to make a senior appearance since joining from home town team SMS Lodz in 2006.

Mark McGhee is also running the rule over trialists Byron Webster and New Zealand international Simon Elliot.
