Golfers beat rain to play Sweepstake

WITH heavy rain at Wishaw Golf Club last Friday, it was a surprise that play got under way in the Sweepstake on Saturday, although five winter greens were used.

The first class went to Davie Russell from Tottie O’Neill on the B.I.H rule.

Graeme Schoneville won the scratch.

Alan McGregor took the second class by one shot from Tom Sommerville and Des Cassidy won the third class also by a single shot from Guy Sinclair.

Results, first class: 1, Davie Russell, 74-7-67 (B.I.H); 2, Tottie O’Neill, 73-6-67; 3, Tom Ballantyne, 78-10-68 (B.I.H); 4, Peter Carty (Junior), 75-7-68 (B.I.H).

Scratch, Graeme Schoneville, 71.

The Gents and Juveniles competition last Sunday was won by Craig and David Connacher.

This week’s competition is the last of the season and is a Texas Scramble.
