Weather cuts pro-am golf tournament short

THE North Lanarkshire Council and Shotts Golf Club Pro-Am was unfortunately curtailed by adverse weather.

The two-day tournament was cut to one day due to heavy rain on Monday August 17, when the professionals should have played 36 holes to add to their 18-hole score on Sunday.

The North Lanarkshire Council team, including council leader Jim McCabe, failed to win any team prizes but Troy McCabe won nearest the pin in two shots on the eighth hole.

The Pro-Am Committee wish to extend heartfelt thanks to all supporters of the tournament.

Charitable proceeds will be going to the Maggies Centre at Wishaw General Hospital and the Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust.

Fundraising will culminate with a prize bingo night in Shotts clubhouse early next month (date to be announced).
