Record breaker Neil Fenwick lands Shotts Golf Club title

Shotts Golf Club

THE PGA Scottish Region tournament, hosted by Shotts Golf Club (SGC) was recently won by assistant professional Neil Fenwick (Dunbar Golf Club).

In fine playing conditions throughout the event, Fenwick set a new professional course record for Shotts with his first-round score of 63 (-7) and went on to win the tournament with a three-round net score of 203 (-7).

The Dunbar ace carded six birdies, one eagle and one bogey during his first round.

Shotts past captain Douglas Donaldson had the honour of being in his team and marking the record breaking card.

Raffles and auctions helped boost the fund raising activities and donations will be made to local charities.

Meanwhile the closely contested Pro-Am team prize was won by the Shotts Men’s team with a score of 53 (best inward half).

A spokeswoman for SGC said: “In the current economic climate we appreciate how difficult it is for sponsors to find the time and money to support charitable events and the Pro-Am Committee would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors of this event.

“In addition we would like to thank everyone for donating prizes for the various raffles and to the many helpers on the day.”

The final fund raising activity will be the annual Pro Am prize bingo night to be held at SGC on Monday, October 11 at 7.30pm.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
