Wishaw Golf Club latest

THE Joe Baker Memorial Trophy at Wishaw Golf Club was won on Thursday’s shotgun scramble by Liam and Keiran McGarry, and Barry and Graham Watson (56.4) from Paul McCafferty, Davie Forde, Conor Hynds and Jas Maclean (54.7).

Joe Baker’s brother and son Colin played together and the family were in attendance at the presentation dinner.

The competition was attended by many of Joe’s former football colleagues including Dixie Deans, Jackie McNamara, Ally McGraw, Peter Cormack, John Fallon and Joe Wark.

At the event £1000 was raised for the St.Andrews Hospice.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s stableford competition was again played in soft conditions with par golf hard to come by.

The first class was won by Ross Wight with Lamont Kennedy one point behind.

Davie McAleavey Junior took the second class by one point from Martin Gillespie and Paddy Dunn.

Martin O’Keane was the clear winner of the third class by two points from Kevin Healy.
