WISHAW Golf Club’s season has almost finished but a Texas Scramble is just the competition to keep the interest high.

Competition was keen on Saturday, with the first two groups split by .4 of a stroke.

Results: first, Steven Nelson, Callum Connacher, Willie Cummins, Ross McNaughton (53.3); second, Robert Ferguson, Gary O’Raw, Tommy O’Neil, Kevin Sloey (53.7); third, Jim Douglas, David Connacher, John and Grant Murdoch (54.7); fourth, Steven and Steven Duffy, Jim Brown, Charlie McGhie (54.8); fifth, Peter (senior), Kevin and Martin Carty, Denis Green.

Club members are reminded that the season has been extended by one week and Saturday’s competition is a sweepstake.

Meanwhile tickets go on sale on Saturday at 1pm for the presentation of prizes evening. They are priced £20 each.

Guest speaker is former professional sprinter George McNeil, who is well-known on the after-dinner circuit.
