Competition underway at Wishaw Golf Club

WISHAW Golf Club captain Pat Murray got the 2011 season under way last week in pleasant but tricky conditions.

A good turnout made for great competition.

In the First Class, Kenny MacLean shot a round of 70 (net 65) to win from Martin Allan, Francis Ferguson and Lindsay Adam.

David Hazlie secured victory in the Second Class from Mark Lennox, John C McGhee and Alan Ritchie.

Third Class winner was Stuart Shields, with Brian O’Neill in second place.

This week’s competition was for the Loyola Trophy with the Competition Scratch Score up to 71.

This suggested difficult conditions for the players, although the greens showed some improvement.

The First Class and Loyola Trophy went to youngster Cieran Farrell, who shot an excellent 72 scratch (63 net).
