Swimming: Get in the pool – for free during holidays

UNDER 16s are invited to enjoy a week of aquatic fun during the October school holidays with North Lanarkshire Leisure (NLL) and North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) supporting the continuation of the Free Swim Initiative.

Everyone under the age of 16 can obtain free entry to all North Lanarkshire Leisure pools, 10am to 4pm from Monday October 13 until Friday, October 17.

The scheme has proved immensely popular since its inception and youngsters have enjoyed over 1.5 million free swims over the last seven years.

The added bonus is that the scheme simultaneously provides an enjoyment and healthy living activity in a safe and secure environment.

Parents and carers should note the following admission requirements designed to maximise safety:

l Children from four to seven years of age must be accompanied into the water by a responsible adult with no more than two children per adult.

l Under fours must be accompanied by an adult on a one-to-one basis.

l Children aged eight and over are free to enter without supervision.

The free swim offer will be available at the following pools: Kilsyth Swimming Pool (01236 828166); John Smith Pool, Airdrie (01236 750130); Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex, Bellshill (01698 747466); Aquatec, Motherwell (01698 332828); Wishaw Sports Centre (01698 355821); Shotts Leisure Centre (01501 823333); Time Capsule, Coatbridge (01236 449572).
