Tae-Kwon-Do trio achieve at Open

SHOTTS Tae-Kwon-Do students Jenna Nelson, Kevin McAnna and Allan McLaughlin were successful at the UK Open Championships in Stoke-On-Trent recently.

Jenna scooped silver in black belt second dan patterns, and bronze in sparring, which was a great effort given the fact she only moved up into the adult division this year.

Allan’s extra training seemed to pay off as he won gold in yellow and green belt patterns, and gold in the sparring division, which was a great improvement from previous competitions.

Kevin won the gold in red belt patterns, sparring and the special technique division which earned him the overall champion title.

It was a great finish to his colour belt career and Kevin has since passed his black belt first dan grading.

The Shotts School and its younger students are now looking forward to the British Championships which will be taking place at Meadowbank this weekend.
