LAW Wheelers new club president, Stephen Kelly, has completed an epic one-day cross border ride for charity.
The local cyclist peddled 177 miles from Bellshill to the seaside town of Morecambe in Lancashire to raise funds for the Intensive Care Unit of Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
Stephen was pledged £500 from family, friends and colleagues.
This amount was generously matched by his employers DHL and brought the total figure raised to £1000.
Setting off at 4am from DHL's Bellshill Depot, Stephen arrived at his coastal destination after only 11.5 hours in the saddle – a remarkable achievement considering it would take more than four hours to drive the same non-motorway route by car.
Law Wheelers meet fortnightly in room 22 at Pather Community Centre, Wishaw.
The next meeting is arranged for Monday, June 8, at 7.30pm.
New members are always welcome and further information can be obtained by visiting www.lawwheelers.com.
