MEMBERS of Strathclyde Park Rowing club enjoyed great success at last weekend’s Scottish Rowing Championships in Strathclyde Park.
Despite the threatening clouds circling the park on Saturday and Sunday, the weather remained mainly warm and sunny, with only a mild crosswind at worst and at best a helpful tailwind.
A thunder storm briefly threatened racing late on Sunday afternoon but fortunately moved away before there was any danger.
The weekend brought many nail-biting finishes and plenty of excitement for spectators and the home club were able to celebrate a host of gold medal successes.
Club captain and coach Fraser Quinn said: “This has been a fantastic weekend for the club, both on and off the water.
“On the water, success came from athletes across both junior and senior events – a testament to the athletes hard winter training and dedication.
“Off the water, our fundraising activities in the catering tent will go towards efforts to purchase a new coaching launch which will enable us to coach more and more athletes and help us to grow more Scottish champions in the years ahead.”
Strathclyde Park Rowing Club is supported by Bothwell Golf Academy Managing Director and Golf Teaching Professional Kenny Henderson.
They also receive support from North Lanarkshire Council through the Talented Athlete Scheme, Sports Aid and the Big Lottery Fund, Scotland.
