Craigneuk’s Team Glah-Hanh dominate in Glasgow bouts

TWO fighters from Craigneuk’s Team Glah-Hanh were in fine form at a recent show in Glasgow.

Thai boxing coach Stephen Mair looked on with pride as two of his proteges, 22-year-old Sean Smith and 28-year-old Gerry Rafferty, both produced stunning victories.

Sean came up against Glasgow fighter Mark Randall in his first boxing bout.

Despite only being professionally trained in Thai boxing, Sean accepted his opponent’s challenge to step out of his comfort zone and go toe-to-toe at boxing.

On the weekend’s evidence, his future career may be in the boxing ring.

Sean was on top throughout against Randall, winning each of the five rounds unanimously against an opponent who was taking part in his third boxing fight.

It was then Gerry’s turn to impress, competing in only his first organised Thai bout.

The 29-year-old turned on the style, again winning all five rounds unanimously against Tony Scott from Ayrshire.

Coach Stephen commented: He said: “I was so proud. They were both absolutely brilliant. For Sean to beat an opponent who has boxed twice before in his first ever bout is unbelievable.“Both fighters will now have plenty of chances in the new year, when Sean will be guaranteed a fight for a Scottish Thai boxing title.”

Stephen will welcome anyone along to the club.

He said: “My youngest pupil is four and my oldest is 80. Anyone keen to come along can contact me on 07977000465.”
