CAMBIE boxing ace Jordan McShane stormed to gold at the recent ABS Junior Championships... despite being unable to use his right hand after just 10 seconds of his semi-final bout.
The 15-year-old over-extended his arm with a right punch, resulting in his elbow coming out its joint before immediately going back in again.
For the next three rounds he could barely defend but still battled to a stunning 13-12 win against John Grier from Irvine Vineburgh.
Despite struggling to hold up his right arm in the final he ended the bout in dramatic fashion thanks to a brilliant left hook in round two against Garnock Valley’s Drew Price.
Proud dad and cornerman Jamie said: “I asked if he wanted to stop the semi-final but he carried on and used his jab and hook superbly.
“He was awesome, dug deep and showed great heart.
“John Grier is a good boxer and a big lad but I’m really proud of how Jordan fought.
“He had his arms by his side for most of the final because he couldn’t lift it but finished the fight with a great left hook.”
Unfortunately the injury has forced Jordan to withdraw from the Scotland v England fixture later this month. However, the plucky young fighter hopes to be part of a Scotland squad fighting in Azerbaijan at the end of May.
