Swimmer Alexandra Bryce enacts revenge

HARTHILL swimming ace Alexandra Bryce proved revenge is sweet after overtaking her Mexican rival to land silver in the International Children’s Games 400m freestyle final last month.

The teenager was beaten in the heats but outlasted her South American opponent in the final to secure second place in Daegu, South Korea.

It was just reward for all the hours training she had done back home.

“It was quite a long flight to Korea but we rested then trained in the pool for the two hours before competition began,” she said.

“I did not fare so well in the 100m fly but was pleased with silver in the 400m.

“I got beaten by one of the girls in the heats but in the final I was lying third before overtaking her.”

The Calderhead High School pupil now hopes to race in the British National Championships.

She said: “I have won a silver and two bronze medals at the Scottish Nationals and gold at the Eastern Districts so now I am aiming to compete at the British.”
